Shang is a vision realized by Lilian Tian. She wanted to create a workplace that celebrated community. One that would embrace technology, design, and encourage passion. As the founder and principle of her own design firm, first and foremost Lilian wanted to create an environment in which her employees, and her team mates, could flourish.
A space they would be proud to enter every day, one that would enhance the quality of both their professional and their private lives. Quickly it became apparent that breaking down barriers and creating a community of multi-disciplinary, multi-functional spaces was the answer. SHANG was born, not only a work place – but also a life place.
Lilian named this community “Jin Shang”, the word “Jin (gold)” is from the quote by Andrew Carnegie :“Dealing with people is like digging for gold: When you go digging for an ounce of gold, you have to move tons of dirt to get an ounce of gold. But when you go digging, you don’t go looking for the dirt, you go looking for the gold.” “Shang” can be translated to “up” or “fashion, dignity.”
Since its establishment, SHANG has been committed to creating an office space for work, living, and events. A one-stop creative work community. SHANG has answers to all your needs, such as, where to grab a healthy lunch? Where do you go to recharge your energy? Where to get a few minutes of sun during work? After working late, check directly in the designer guesthouse upstairs or walk one minute to the gym after work … Through changing the working environment, we transformed the culture of the working environment. People in the SHANG community like the balance of work and life.
SHANG cares about our lives and shapes our city life in a special way. It not only empowers urban renewal, but also triggers our metaphysical thinking to explore and re-explore SHANG which is constantly improving upon itself. SHANG has created a community in a space. We cherish the joy and convenience brought by the word “community” to everyone. Our community makes everyone feel welcomed, recognized and involved. Nothing is more cherished than feeling that “I am a member of this community!”
